Pitta Body Oil
There is no greater expression of self-love than anointing ourselves from head to toe with warm medicated herbal oil. Practiced for thousands of years, this powerful practice is called Abhyanga. A daily self oil massage practice not only restores the balance of the doshas but it greatly enhances our well-being and longevity.
The Sanskrit word Sneha can be translated as both “oil” and “love.” It is believed that the effects of Abhyanga are similar to those received when one is saturated with love. Like the experience of being loved, Abhyanga can give a deep feeling of stability and warmth.
Our Pitta oil formula is cooling for the body on a physiological level and for the emotions on a more subtle level. This oil is particularly beneficial for Pitta types, or those individuals who run hot, may have sensitive skin, or who suffer from breakouts and inflammation. This light, cooling, herbal oil will leave your body, mind, and spirit feeling soothed and balanced.

How to use: Daily self oil massage is a time to connect with yourself and slow down. Put on some soothing music, light a candle, diffuse some essential oils, or burn some sage. Any extra added ambiance that will allow you to relax and unwind.
The ideal scenario is one where you can take your time with the application and also have 15 minutes to rest with the oil on your skin before you rinse it off in the shower. The longer the oil is on the more it penetrates to the deeper dhatus, or layers of your skin. Even if you can only rest for 5 minutes after the oil is on, this is still wonderful compared to not doing it at all.
Warm about ⅓ to ½ cup of oil in an oil warmer. Stand on a towel that you will designate as your oily towel for this practice. Massage the oil onto your body beginning at the extremities and working towards the middle of your body. Use long strokes on the limbs and circular strokes on the joints. Massage the chest and abdomen in broad, clockwise, circular motions. When massaging the abdomen, move very slowly and follow the path of the large intestine beginning around the belly button. Then move up on the right side of the abdomen, then across and down the left side. If possible leave oil on for 15-20 minutes, then rinse in a warm shower or with a warm bath. Refrain from washing with soaps after application as you want a light sheen from the oil on the skin.
All oils are infused with Ayurvedic healing mantras; cooked using a traditional three day process of an herbal water infusion for extra potency.
