Vata Body Oil
Wild Hart Ayurveda recognizes external oleation as the MOST important self care practice.
Practiced for thousands of years, this powerful practice is called Abhyanga.
The Sanskrit word Sneha can be translated as both “oil” and “love.” The practice of oiling the body can give a deep feeling of stability, comfort and warmth.
Our Vata oil formula was created to help those individuals with more dry skin and a scattered mind. Once the oil is absorbed into the body, this oil has numerous effects besides just softening and soothing the skin. When we massage the oil into the skin, it lubricates the internal environment; releases stored up toxins and carries them back to the digestive tract for elimination. It also stimulates dhatu agni, the metabolic fire of tissue, and then enhances ojas, or our vitality.
When Abhyanga is done daily because it bestows the body with the following properties-
Improves the body complexion
Helps to maintain skin elasticity
Strengthens our immune system
Rejuvenates body tissues
Deeply promotes health, feeling grounded, and balanced
Reduces the effects of any trauma
Helps to overcome anxiety and stress
Relaxes the muscles and relieves fatigue
Improves physical strength
Prevents the effects of old age

How to use: Daily self oil massage is a time to connect with yourself and slow down. Put on some soothing music, light a candle, diffuse some essential oils, or burn some sage. Any extra added ambiance that will allow you to relax and unwind.
The ideal scenario is one where you can take your time with the application and also have 15 minutes to rest with the oil on your skin before you rinse it off in the shower. The longer the oil is on the more it penetrates to the deeper dhatus, or layers of your skin. Even if you can only rest for 5 minutes after the oil is on, this is still wonderful compared to not doing it at all.
Warm about ⅓ to ½ cup of oil in an oil warmer. Stand on a towel that you will designate as your oily towel for this practice. Massage the oil onto your body beginning at the extremities and working towards the middle of your body. Use long strokes on the limbs and circular strokes on the joints. Massage the chest and abdomen in broad, clockwise, circular motions. When massaging the abdomen, move very slowly and follow the path of the large intestine beginning around the belly button. Then move up on the right side of the abdomen, then across and down the left side. If possible leave oil on for 15-20 minutes, then rinse in a warm shower or with a warm bath. Refrain from washing with soaps after application as you want a light sheen from the oil on the skin.
All oils are infused with Ayurvedic healing mantras; cooked using a traditional three day process of an herbal water infusion for extra potency.
